Joseph Dugal Laid to Rest Here on Thursday. One of the ever smaller circle of men who were once associated with the river logging drives in the heyday of Wisconsin's history was laid to rest here in solemn services yesterday (Thursday) morning.
Joseph A. Dugal, 71, passed away at his home at 2:30 a.m. Monday morning, following several weeks of illness.
Last rites were held from the St. Rose of Lima church here at 9:00 yesterday, with Fr. Joseph Wagner officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Dugal was born on August 25, 1887, in Chippewa Falls. When he was twelve years of age, his father died, and Dugal began working with logging crews in northern Wisconsin, a career which he pursued during the next twelve years, taking part in many river drives during this time.
On June 25, 1912, he was married to Clara Myrtle Liddell at the St. Rose church here, and they moved to Saskatchewan, Canada, where they lived until the autumn of 1920 when they moved to Cadott.
In 1927, they moved to a farm in Sigel, not far from the village, which he operated until the time of his retirement in 1953, when they once more moved into the village.
During his residence in Sigel, he served as chairman of the township for one term; until a couple of years ago, he worked for the village; he was a longtime member of the St. Rose parish.
Surviving are his wife; two sons, David of Cadott and Robert of Milwaukee; one daughter, Mrs, Howard (Drusilla) Kyes of Cadott; one brother, Lawrence Dugal of Cadott; six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by five sisters and brothers. Pallbearers were Joe Marek, Frank McConville, Paul Hager, Leo LeDuc, John Pozarski and Leon Ruff.
