Brenda Marshpund Arritt, 62, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, Jan. 28, 2010, surrounded by family at her home.
She was a native of Richmond and had lived in Spotsylvania County for the past 34 years. She was the daughter of the late John and Pearl Marshpund.
Brenda was a graduate of George Wythe High School in Richmond. She had worked as a hairdresser and recently had retired as a bus driver for Spotsylvania County schools. She was a volunteer at SECA for many years and an active member of Wallers Baptist Church in Partlow.
Brenda will be remembered for her strong faith, even through her battle with cancer, and for her thoughtfulness and concern for others.
She is survived by her husband, A. Miller Arritt III; her four children, Scott Smith of Partlow, Jonathan Todd Smith of Partlow, Tracey Arritt Spencer and her husband, Edwin, of Knoxville, Tenn., and Hunter Arritt and his wife, Stephanie, of Mobile, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by three sisters, Patricia Hartpence and her husband, Dwayne, of Ocoee, Fla., Mary Bottoms and her husband, Jimmy, of Richmond and Jackie Hughes and her husband, Jimmy, of Richmond; her brother, Wayne Marshpund of Richmond; two nieces and 10 nephews. Brenda also leaves behind a sister-in-law, Joyce Arritt Laine of Virginia Beach, who was a loving caregiver during Brenda's illness.
A celebration of her life will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Wallers Baptist Church, 4001 Partlow Road, Partlow, with the Rev. James Graham officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, 4801 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg.
