Sarah Elvy Turner was born in Wilson, Pope County, Arkansas, on 10 July 1891, to William Pierce Turner and Teresa Jane Golden Turner. Her parents came to Texas in a covered wagon from Arkansas when she was a little girl. They came to Texas after the 1900 census as they are family # 74 on the 1900 Pope County, Arkansas, census. Sarah Couch was a skilled seamstress, and when her husband died, she took a job making furniture upholstery at Jennings Furniture Company on Main Street in downtown Denison.
Homer Charles Couch and Sarah Elvy Turner married in Clairette, Texas, on 26 December 1909. Their marriage license was issued in Erath County, Texas.
Their children were:
• William Ernest Couch, born on 3 July 1912; died on 30 March 1988
• Wayne Couch, born on 22 June 1916; died on 19 July 1983
• Orville E. Couch, born on 22 July 1917; died on 31 March 1974
Her son, William Ernest Couch, built her a garage apartment on his property, within a few feet of his home, when her husband, Homer Couch, died. She lived there the remainder of her life. She died on 3 May 1971.
