Funeral services were held Saturday at the LDS Institute building for Marion Christensen, 72, of Manhattan. Burial followed at Sunset Memorial Park.

A lifetime rancher, Christensen died Feb. 15 at this home.

He was born at Hayden, Utah, to Karl and Christina Christensen on April 20, 1910. He grew up and attended schools in Uintah Basin, Utah. He married Violette Eva Francis at Vernal, Utah, in April, 1934.

In 1951 he moved to Ennis to work for the Shoemaker ranch. He re-married Gladys Josephine Viola Smith at Jackson Hole, Wyo., on June 20, 1952. They came in 1954 to work for the Leo Jarboe Registered Hereford Ranch. After his retirement in 1975, they moved to Whitehall. They had just recently moved back to Manhattan to live near his son, Paul of Bozeman.

Christensen was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and enjoyed horses and fishing.

Survivors include: his wife Gladys; six sons: J.W. "Bill" of Salem, Ore.; Carl of Santaquin, Utah; M. Paul of Bozeman; Merritt of Hamilton; Garth of Salem, Ore.; and Nicolas of Springdale, Utah; two daughters: Mrs. Lyle (Frances) Pearson of Salem, Ore.; and Mrs. Warren (Hati Jo) Robb of Spanish Fork, Utah; four brothers: Einor of White Rocks, Utah; Alfred of Salem, Missouri; Marunis of Morgan, Utah; and Elvie of Manhattan; two sisters: Amelia Heggie of California; and Bertha LaRose of Roosevelt, Utah; 41 grandchildren, and over 30 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Jens and Dan Christensen.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Museum of the Rockies. Funeral directors from Dahl Chapels were in charge of arrangements.
