Mr. Childs went to be with the Lord on Friday, August 29th at Weston County Health Services surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.
Joe was born December 15, 1915 at the Deep Creek Childs Homestead in Weston County (WY) to Clifford E. and Ida (Kuemmerle) Childs. He was named after his grandfather, Joseph Childs. Joe attended Upton schools and then made his home at the Rock Creek Ranch.
Joe married Faye Vincent on September 21, 1940 in Bolivar, Missouri.
Mr. Childs loved riding horses and never lost his love of the Cowboy way of life. He was an avid raccoon and bobcat hunter with his many hounds. He also loved camping with his burros and also enjoyed deer and antelope hunting. When the family left Rock Creek Ranch, Joe did many things; among his favorites were oil field work and working on the bridge gang. After retiring he enjoyed wood working and shooting his .223 pistol. He also loved passing the time at the cabin on Skull Creek. Joe was much loved by many, he loved people and never met a stranger, and he was always ready to visit.
Joe was a member of the First Baptist Church in Upton and as a devout Christian he read his Bible daily.
