ELGIN Funeral for Billy "No Shame" Joe Ahhaitty, 59, Elgin, will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Woogie Watchetaker Hall at the Comanche Nation Complex with Minister Milton Sovo officiating.
Mr. Ahhaitty went to his heavenly home on Saturday, May 15, 2010, in Lawton.
Burial with military honors will be at Post Oak Cemetery under the direction of Comanche Nation Funeral Home.
Prayer service will be Monday at 7 p.m. at the Comanche Nation Complex.
No Shame was born on June 20, 1950, in Lawton, to Elrod and Barbara Ahhaitty Monoessy. He grew up in Walters and attended Walters Public School. He entered the U.S. Marines Corp in 1967 at Camp Pendleton, San Diego, California with the 1st Marine Division. No Shame worked as a custodian for ten years at Elgin Public Schools. He served as Head Singer for many Pow Wows all over Oklahoma. He was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma and the Comanche Native American Church. No Shame loved going to Pow Wows, the Casino and attending dances. He enjoyed playing softball, golf, and pitching horseshoes.
Survivors include four children: Buffy Pete and Duffy Randolph of the home; Sunshine Joey Ahhaitty, Geronimo; Beverlee Jewel Ahhaitty Antonio, Ruidoso, N.M.; three brothers: Elrod Monoessy Jr., Walters; Neal Mack Monoessy, Georgia; Charles Berkeley Monoessy, Walters; six sisters: Ruby Mae Woodard, Carnegie; Julian KnifeChief, Pawnee; Florence Starr, Stroud; Dorothy Tahah, Elgin, Althea Monoessy, Mcloud; Wilnetta "Sukie" Monoessy, Walters; sixteen grandchildren; one aunt, Beverlee Boyd, Stroud; one uncle Berkeley Ahhaitty, Yukon; Big Brother Thomas Blackstar; special brothers: Craig Satepauhoodle, Pete Coffey Jr., Robert Komacheet Jr., and a special aunt, Chily Tofpi.
He was preceded in death by: a daughter, Deanna Ahhaitty; his parents; his grand parents, Lucius Ahhaitty and Ruby Aunquoe; one aunt, Anna "Cherry" Honeycutt; three uncles, Arthur "Blue" Ahhaitty, Andrew Beaver, and Alton Beaver.
