Birth: Aug. 5, 1854
Ohio, USA
Death: Jul. 15, 1887

Kansas, USA

Sarah Taylor married James Reynolds Cooper at the home of her parents, Dr. and Mrs. Alexander Taylor, at Ashland, Nebraska, June 30, 1880.

After the marriage James and Sarah lived for some months near Jewel City, Kansas, where James farmed with his foster father, Theodore L. Cooper. Here at Jewel City was born their first son, Theodore Reynolds Cooper, April 18, 1881. In 1882 James established himself himself as a druggist at Yutan, Nebraska. Their second son, Alexander Cooper, and a daughter, Lucille Maude Cooper, were born there on April 8, 1883 and September 24, 1884.

In July, 1887, in a covered springwagon, the family started overland by easy stages west. One of the stops was at Jewel City, Kansas. Sarah died at the house of her sister, Mary Wentworth, on a farm near Smith Center, Kansas.

In 1941, Alexander Cooper had his mother's monument restored. The first marker had decayed.

The creator of this memorial (Wayne, below) is a relative and would be happy to share information. He thanks Betty Sears of Smith Co. for finding the grave and taking the photo.
