Musician. A bassist, he is best known for his work with Hall & Oates, and as a member of the "Saturday Night Live" house band (1986 to 1992). An accomplished accordion player during his teenage years, his musical aspirations were enhanced after seeing The Beatles' performance on "The Ed Sullivan Show" in 1964, resulting with his learning to play the electric guitar. He pursued a career in music after graduating from high school and briefly attending art school. Throughout the 1970s, he was regarded as a reputable session musician in high-demand for a diverse range of artists including Carly Simon, Billy Joel, Elvis Costello and Robert Palmer, among many others. For nearly thirty-years from 1981 until his death from a heart attack, Wolk performed and recorded with Daryl Hall and John Oates, as a member of their band beginning with the "Private Eyes" album. (bio by: C.S.)
