Alfred W. Zarn, 84, of 1500 32nd St. S., a retired caretaker at Mount Olivet Cemetery and World War II Army veteran, died of natural causes Sunday at a local nursing home.
A memorial service is 11 a.m., Wednesday at the O'Connor Memorial Chapel. Cremation has taken place under the direction of O'Connor Funeral Home.
Survivors include his stepdaughters, Ellen Wryn of Seattle, Linda Hunter of Kodiak, Alaska, Kathy (Steve) Davidson of Great Falls, Sharon (Bruce) Fredricks of Altamont, N.Y., and Karen (Denis) Ducimetiere of Great Falls; a stepson, John (Terri) Wryn of Anderson Calif.; sisters, LaVerne Hammas of Tennessee and Lilly Zarn and Becky Manska, both of Wadena, Minn.; a brother, Leo (betty) Zarn of CutBank; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces.
Al was born April 25, 1922, in Eagle Bend, Minn. He grew up and attended schools in Minnesota. He married Dolores Wendt on Oct. 23, 1984, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
Al served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He worked at Poulsens, Mount Olivet Cemetery, U'Store It and Will Deal Auto.
He enjoyed his work and gardening.
he was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Zarn in 2005 and his parents, Gottlieb and Minnie Zarn.
