Levi married Mary Ann Sanford December 25, 1811 in Erie County, NY. He was the father of 11 children; those not listed below were 4 daughters who died young, Marietta, Mary, Marie, and Sarah, and a son Adoniram, who died at age 21. Levi was a patriot who served in the War of 1812 as a private under Capt. Daniel Haskell's militia commanded by Col. William Warren. He volunteered in Buffalo, NY and received bounty land for his service. His brother E. Sanford Blake notarized his papers.
He also had a true pioneer spirit, moving from East Aurora, NY, to Vermont, to Randolph, PA, to Edwardsburg, MI, to Chicago, IL, to Racine, WI and finally to Sparta where he died. His family stories have been repeated in biographies and sketches published in Wisconsin. He was always one of the early settlers in these communities. Levi was a farmer, a carpenter, a city trustee in Racine, and a life-long member of the Baptist Church.
