Mrs. Emma Erickson, long time resident of Liberty County, was found dead outside her home in west Chester Monday evening. She was lying on the door step. The body was partially frozen, indicating she had been dead several hours. The body was discovered by her two sons, Howard and Donald. Mrs. Erickson had been seriously ill for some time previous to her death.
Emma Mathilda Erickson was born Aug. 26, 1884 in Fairdale, N.D. On Mar. 22, 1906 she was married at Fairdale to Fred Nels Erickson, who died in April of 1945.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Erma Smith and Mrs. Mildred Hanson of Chester, and Mrs. Fred Oren of Richland, Wash.; three sons, Donald, Howard, and Oscar of Chester; four brothers, Ed Erickson of Fairdale, N.D., Christ Erickson of Fergus Falls, Minn., Joe and John Erickson of Seattle, Wash.; and two sisters, Mrs. Nora Warnes of Chester, and Mrs. Maria Berg of Spicer, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Erickson was a faithful member of long standing of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Chester. Interment was beside her husband in the family plot of the Erickson cemetery, south of Chester.
