Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.
Mr. Burks, who died Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at his residence, was born May 21, 1926, in Walker County to John Hill Burks and Lena Flossie Webb Burks. He was a welder and was a member of the Holy Church of Christ in Moulton. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harlon J. Burks and Harlston W. Burks.
Survivors include his wife, Stelleen Sargent Burks; one son, James Roger Burks of Moulton; three daughters, Alberta Glasscock of Hartselle, Delilah Darlene Peed of Vinemont, and Janet Darnell Carpenter of Nitrate City; one sister, Helen Burks Carrington of California; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Van Glasscock, Jason Adams, Marvin Nelms, Dale Parker and Thad Peed.
