Daughter of John and Nancy (White) Cook.

Sarah Elizabeth Cook, not yet 16 married a young man who played the fiddle, John Tillett, her first husband on March 8, 1860. They had one daughter, Nancy Elvis Tillett. John was killed along with 200 other soldiers on January 27, 1865 during the Civil War on the steamboat "Eclipse" at Puducah, Kentucky, on his way home to attend a funeral. This ship exploded and sank and John is buried in Kentucky.
