Roger Bains, husband, father,and grandfather, went to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday January 2, 2008, following a lengthy illness.
Roger was known for being a "gentle giant" with quick wit and tall tales. He loved being outdoors and truly enjoyed his position as ranch forman of the Nutt Ranch for Wagner and Brown the last 23 years. Roger grew up in Talpa, Texas and was a Baptist. He was a member of the Rankin Lions Club, West Texas Barbeque Association, and Black Gold Pod. He worked for Halliburton and Union Of Texas Petroleum when he and Karen moved to Rankin 45 years ago.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents W.N. and Marie Bains.

He is survived by wife, Karen Bains, son Bradley Bains and wife Cheryl of Midland, grandchildren Ashley and Brensen Bains of Midland and sister, Ludie Rudolph and husband Wayne of Fort Worth.

Some of his favorite pastimes were guiding and hunting with his friends, son, and grandson; playing a mean game of cards; and beating them all in a game of dominoes.

Graveside services will be held at Rankin Cemetery, Saturday, January 5, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.

A reception at the Rankin Chamber of Commerce, will follow the service.

Pallbearers will be Dan Brown, Brett Clark,David Ezell,Steve McComb, Tommy Owens and Bud Poage.

Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy. Midland, TX 79701
