Horace J. Breese died Tuesday morning (Dec. 6th) at 8:20 o'clock at the family home near Horseheads, after an illness of two weeks. The deceased was seventy-three years old, and was born on the farm where he died. His father John Breese, was one of the pioneer settlers of Chemung county, and his aunt Sarah Jackson, was the first white child born in Chemung county. Of eleven brothers and sisters only two survive him, Miss Angeline Breese, of Horseheads, and Mrs. Kate Ellsworth of Lakeview, Mich. The funeral was held at the home Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. C. E. Christian pastor of the Horseheads Baptist church, officiated, and burial was in Maple Grove Cemetery.
