William Elmer Daugherty attended Republic
Grade School and graduated from Republic
High School in 1940.
He served with the U.S. Army during World
War II.
He was united in marriage to Lois Garton
on September 30, 1946 and to this union
four sons and two daughters were born.
Lois died in 1982. He was united in marriage
to Donna Sellman. She also preceded him
in death.
He worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad,
Republic Elevator and City of Republic.
He was a life member of the VFW. He
was preceded in by his parents,
John and Stella Daugherty, wife, Lois
Daugherty, wife, Donna Sellman, four
brothers, Richard, John, Lee, Earl,
five sisters, Lucy, Grace, May, Arletha,
Ethel. He is survived by four sons, William E.
Daugherty Jr., Clifford C. Daugherty, Alan W.
Daugherty, Melvin D. Daugherty, two
daughters, Wilma J. Willenborg, Evelyn M.
Daugherty, 10 grandchildren, one step grand-
daughter, 13 great grandchildren, eight- step
great grandchildren. Funeral services were
held October 13, Bachelor-Surber Memorial
Chapel, Belleville, with interment in Union
Valley Cemetery, rural Belleville. Military
graveside service by the Fort Riley Honor
Guard.
Memorials may be given to United
Methodist Church, Republic.
