Tribute of Respect

It is sad indeed that we, the Sunday school of Pleasant Home Church, have to announce the death of one of our members in Bible Class No 2, in the person of Sister Ida Blackburn, who was also a member of the same church. She died Jan 1, 1909, having been sick only about 6 days, which seems to make it all the more sadder as it was so sudden and unexpected by relatives and friends. Her mother died several years ago, also a brother near two years ago, with the same disease, pneumonia. Her father, Charlie B. Blackburn, six brothers, a step mother, one half brother and three half sisters still survive. Three own brothers now being in other states, who had not the priviledge of again seeing her dead or alive.
She was about 23 years of age, having been born May, 1885. She was kind and generous in disposition, lovable and friendly in feature, always smiling, cherishing fonder hopes for greater rewards, subduing all griefs, trials and troubles in a Christian like manner.
She professed religion only a few months ago and on her death bed seemed to cherish those precious moments when the Lord pardon her sins for Christ's sake who died for all. She seemed only to retain of all dying Christian men and women, "Oh! that I had only done more for the blessed Savior," and to this end hoped to again get well, but seemingly to realize that the angel of death was surely coming in spite of all that a kind physician and loving hands could do, expressed her willingness to go.
In her death the family have lost a charming member, the church a consistent Christian, and the Sunday School a worthy student, but the Sunday School mourn not as those having no hope believing that there is something real in all true consistent Sunday School workers. We now solemnly bow our heads in submission to him who doeth all things well, mourning with those that mourn and to the family, relatives and friends, we extend our sympathy.
By order of committee in Sunday school this 10th day of January 1909.
