BARRE - Glendon A. Anderson Sr., 93, formerly of Craftsbury, died at Westwood Health Care Center in Keene, N.H., on Saturday, April 22, 2006.
Born in Glover on Aug. 24, 1912, he was the son of Lynn and Fannie (Scott) Anderson.
He married Alice Archambault in Barton in 1936; she died in 1940.
Mr. Anderson farmed, raised pigs and restored furniture, specializing in antique oak. He enjoyed trout fishing on the Branch and Lamoille rivers and playing the fiddle.
Mr. Anderson served during World War II in the U.S. Army-Air Corps as an airplane and engine mechanic, stationed in Karachi, India, and the Persian Gulf.
He is survived by three sons, Glendon Anderson Jr. of DelRio, Texas, David Anderson of Dayton, Minn., and Thomas Anderson of Craftsbury; four daughters, Betty Treadwell of Alstead, N.H., Laura Phillips of Northfield, Luanne Laird of Roxbury and Linda Hough of Barre; a brother, Earl Anderson of Pike, N.H.; four sisters, Hazel Wendelburg, Grace Morey and Rebecca Cram, all of Florida, and Bernice Rowell of Manchester, N.H; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 27, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Craftsbury in Craftsbury Common with the Rev. Neil Carr officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Barton. Friends may call at the Malcolm R. Davis Funeral Home in Craftsbury Common on Wednesday, April 26, from 6-8 p.m.
