George married Frances Spargo on June 15, 1903 in Brooklyn, NY. Their son Norman, was born 10/30/1905. In 1910 the family moved to Lubec, ME where George had secured work with American Can Company. George's wife died of cancer 05/04/1942. George died 03/06/1945. His obituary in the Lubec Herald read: "Death came suddenly Tuesday night to an esteemed citizen, Mr. George Mason, master mechanic at the American Can Co. here for most of the past 35 years, after several years of gradually declining health.
He was born in England and served his apprenticeship as a machinist in that country before coming to the United States.
He was a master craftsman and unlike (illegible 12 or 13 character word ending in "ing") in the way of instruction from those serving under him teaching others was his greatest pleasure.
He was quiet and retiring by nature, a wide reader and in every sense of the word a gentleman. His hobby was flowers and for many years he gave them cultivation and care.
George and his wife, Frances had one son, Norman who died childless May 22, 1945. Norm and his parents are buried in Lamson Cemetery, Lubec, ME.
