Toronto Daily Star, Thursday, November 25, 1915, page 6:
'One of Toronto's pioneers passed away Wednesday in the person of Mrs. Lucie K. Armstrong, widow of the late William Armstrong, in her ninetieth year. The death occurred at the family homestead , "The Priory", 15 Augusta Avenue, from a gradual breakdown. Mrs. Armstrong came to this country from Ireland at an early age. Her late husband, William Armstrong, was a Liverpool architect who came to Canada with his father, Major-General Armstrong, when the latter was ordered here on military service. Mr. and Mrs. Armstrong first lived on Church Street, but later on took up their residence on Augusta, naming the place "The Toronto Priory" after the old Irish homestead. Mr. Armstrong will be remembered as one of the earliest members of the art staff of the old Normal School, and he served as an artist with Lord Wolseley's expedition to the Red River, representing a London illustrated paper. The late Mrs. Armstrong is survived by six children: Claude, employed by the Dominion Bank; Harry, of the Canadian Bank of Commerce; Mrs. B. Arkle, living at home; Mrs. N. Ruttan, of Port Arthur; and two daughters living in England."
