CHARETTE, Harry J. Harry J. Charette, 79, of Manchester, beloved husband of Carmen F. (Richard) Charette, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2004, at Rockville General Hospital.

He was born May 25, 1925 in Northampton, MA, son of the late Albert and Rose (Rogers) Charette and had been a resident of Manchester since 1955.

He was a World War II Veteran serving with the U.S. Army Air Corp. Prior to his retirement in 1987 he was Chief of Design Engineering with the U.T.C. Research Laboratory. He was a specialist in High temperature Alloy's and authored "Compendium of High Temperature Materials" as well as many other reports.

Mr. Charette was also involved with numerous engineering Associations and Societies. He was a longtime member of St. Bridget Church in Manchester. He had his pilots license and enjoyed flying as well as being and avid fisherman and horse racing enthusiast.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Stephen H. Charette and his wife Lisa of Southington, his daughter Cathy C. Cooney of Manchester, two granddaughters, Erin Cooney and Michelle Cooney both of Manchester, two sisters-in-law Norma Nau of Walnut Creek, CA, Annette Daviau of Guilford and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, November 3, at 11 a.m. at St. Bridget Church, 80 Main St., Manchester. Entombment will be held in St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum in East Hartford. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Watkins Funeral Home, 142 East Center St., Manchester.

Harry had two siblings who pre-deceased him, a sister, Adele Irene (Charette) Biela (1920-_?_) and a brother, Norman Albert Charette (1927-1995), buried in Spring Grove Cemetery, Northampton, Hampshire Co., MA.

Harry's ancestry can be traced back to Mathieu Charette/Charest/Choret, through Mathieu's son Joseph who was born on 14 Aug 1650 in Beauport and died 28 Oct 1684 in Quebec, Canada. Further information about the Charette surname available at Charette/Charest Family Association
