Lieutenant Colonel Beadle was a career Marine Corps Officer. He first enlisted with the corps on December 30, 1899 and rose to the rank of First Sgt. in less than four years. He was later commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on July 13, 1903. He saw foreign service in the Philippines, Cuba, China, Haiti, and Nicaragua. He saw sea service while attached to the USS Atlanta, USS Maryland, USS Washington, USS Tadousac, USS Chaumont, USS Genesee and at Mare Island Naval Shipyard. During World War I he was Director-in-Chief of Paris Island, South Carolina, Marine Corps. Base. In July of 1927 he was assigned to Guardia Nacional, Nicaragua, as Brigadier General, serving until March of 1929. He was recommended for the Navy Distinguised Service medal by Major General Lejeune for his service in Nicaragua, but the Navy elevated this award to the Navy Cross. In addition to the Navy Cross, he was also awarded the Marine Corps. Cuban Pacaification medal, the World War I Victory medal and the Marine Good Conduct medal (for his enlisted service). He was also eligiable for the Marine Corps. Philippine Campaign Service medal and the Second Nicaraguan Campaign medal. He retired from the U.S.M.C. on March 1, 1930.
