Mr. English was the Associate United States Attorney for the western district of Missouri, 1919-20. He was the author of "History of the 89th Division", 1919, and was editor of "Western Golfer". He was admitted to the Missouri bar in 1899. He was Captain, Co. I, 5th Misouri Volunteer Infantry, in the Spanish American War, earning him the Spanish American War Service medal, and later a Major in the Missouri National Guard. He was a Captain, Major and a Lt. Colonel of the 353rd Infantry and the 117th Infantry Brigade, 89th Division, during World War I, earning him the WWI Victory medal with St. Mihiel, Meuse-Argonne and Defensive Sector battle clasps. He was a member of the American Legion and The Christian Men's Assocation. He belonged to the Kansas City, Missouri, State American Bar Association, a Freemason and a Trustee of the Kansas City College of Commerce. He was an avid golfer and he belonged to the University Club and Milburn Country Club, both in Kansas City. (Partial contribuing source from the "Who's Who in Kansas City", Baldwin, 1930).
