AND THE FIRST SAWMILL IN THE VALLEY
By Iva Carroll Gray, a grand daughter
"In the spring of 1879 Patrick moved most of his family out to Ashley Valley. His oldest daughter had married Heber Moulton in 1874, and the younger daughter, because of a health condition, remained in Heber with her sister."
"When the second crop of wild hay was ready to be harvested and the grain was turning, word came to the Carroll family that their daughter living with her sister in Heber was very ill. She was very weak and lived only a few days after her parents arrived in Heber. She was buried in the Heber cemetery on September 8, 1879."
