Ridgecrest, Calif. — Longtime resident Berry E. Gibson (Long), died peacefully at her home on Saturday, Sept. 3. She was 84.
Born on Terre Haute, Ind., Betty married her lifelong companion, Vernon Gibson and the couple made their home in Riverside.
In 1971, she moved her family to NOTS China Lake where she retired from the Kmart corporation.
Betty started working at the Grants store and stayed with Kmart when they bought out the Grants store.
Many of her fondest memories were from her day at the store, getting to know co-workers who became her lifelong friends.
Betty is survived by her daughter Kathleen Gibson of Highland; son Daryl and wife In-Sun Gibson of Peyton, Colo; daughter Jeanne and husband Jay Young of Ridgecrest. Grandchildren Michael Garcia, Maria Garino, Angela and Ryan Sparks, Kayla, Cheyanne, Michaela Young, Gabrielle and Matthew Rael and Daryl Gibson, Jr. Great-grandchildren Nick and Amanda Garcia; Iziah Legarda and Elias and Eleana Rael.
Private services will be held at Desert Memorial Park. Arrangements made by Holland and Lyons Mortuary.
The family would like to thank Ridgecrest Regional Hospital Hospice Care and High Desert Haven's loving staff for all of their support, and all the prayers and support of our family and friends.
