MARYSVILLE -- Douglas E. Bellow, 69, of Marysville died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2000, in his home after a long illness. He was born Oct. 5, 1930 in Marysville to the late Fred and Lavina Dutton Bellow. He was a lifelong area resident. He married Shirley Little on Sept. 16, 1951 in Riley Center.

Mr. Bellow graduated form Marysville High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean conflict. He was a carpenter by trade and built many homes in the area. he also built pools, which led him to found Bellow Pool Supply Co in Marysville which he owned and operated from 1976 until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of Marysville Masonic Lodge 498 F & AM and the Marysville Zoning Board of Appeals. He was a member of Marysville United Methodist Church and served on the building committee when the new church was built.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; two sisters, Audrey Clendenney of Inverness, Fla., and Louise Walker of St. Mary's Ohio; a brother, Harold Bellow of Merritt Island, Fla; many nieces and nephews; dear friends, Bud and Jenny Hall and family of Sandusky and Lloyd and Eileen Tice of Deckerville; adopted children Jerry and Christine Redding and son Ryan of Marshall; and many other special friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Whitsitt, and five brothers, Thomas "Lin" Bellow, Francis "Bub" Bellow, Dickie Bellow, Carl Bellow and John Bellow.

A Masonic memorial service will be at 7 p.m Tuesday in the Marysville Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Marysville Funeral Home. the Rev. James M. Thompson of Marysville United Methodist church and the Rev. Ralph T. Barteld will officiate. Burial will be in Riverlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Whitsitt, John and Perry Bellow, Len Balinski, Jean Carolan and Brad Allen.
