HOUSTON -- Josephine Houston died at her home at Applegate, Ore., February 11 from heart failure, aged 67 years, 9 months, 7 days. She was one of the first daughters born in Jackson county, May 4, 1853. She was the widow of Bailey Houston. She was a woman that devoted her life to aiding the sick and distressed, going from one neighbor to the other in times of sickness and trouble. She is survived by three brothers and one sister, and other relatives. John C. Miller, Applegate, Burrell Miller, Central Point, Ore., Mrs. Louisa Culp, Callahan, Cal. Funeral services will be held at the residence Sunday morning at 9 a.m. Interment in Griffin Creek cemetery.
