Rodney was born in Ennis, TX to George and Gladys (Thompson) Houdek on July 23, 1963. Rodney grew up in Ennis, he graduated from Ennis High in 1981. He was an elite level gymnast at Sokol earning numerous trophies, medals and awards. Rodney worked as a Tile Setter, was the Green's Keeper at the Ennis Country Club and many other golf courses across Texas. He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, golfer, and dancer. He also loved playing his harmonica and was a talented artist, amazing people with his ability to draw pencil sketches. Rodney was especially proud of his Czech heritage.Rodney was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church. Rodney also was a member of the American Sokol, the KJT, and Son's of the American Legion.Rodney is survived by his wife Molly Breeland Houdek of Ennis, Two step-sons; Thomas Schroeder and Roman Schroeder both of Justin, TX, one step-daughter, Chelsey Schroeder of Justin, TX, three brothers; Jimmy Houdek and his wife Janelle of Ennis, Alan Houdek and his wife Laurie of Dallas, and David Houdek and his wife Lisa of Ennis, one granddaughter Claireabell Boyd, his faithful dog Charlie, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 2:00 pm at Myrtle Cemetery in Ennis with Pastor Michael Howard officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sokol of Ennis in Rodney's name.Na Shledanou!!!!
