Dr. Walter P. McCall, Jr., 89, died Feb. 17, 2007, at the Ennis Regional Medical Center. Funeral services were held Feb. 20. in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Interment followed in Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J. E. Keever mortuary.

Dr. Walter P. McCall, Jr., 89, died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2007, at the Ennis Regional Medical Center. He was born Aug. 26, 1917 in Ennis, the son of Walter P. and Maude Reynolds McCall. He was reared in Ennis, graduating from Ennis High School in 1934. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Trinity University in 1938, being a member of Alpha Chi. In 1942 he graduated with honors from Baylor Medical School where he was a member of Phi Beta Pi Fraternity, Alpha Che and Alpha Pi Societies. On Jan. 15, 1943 he was married to Miss Martha Louise Scott of Dallas at the Highland Park Church. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps until May 1946 at which time he moved to Ennis and started his private practice of medicine. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Ennis Lions Club, the Chamber of Commerce, Lakeside Country Club, Ellis County Medical Society, Texas Medical Assoc., and the American Medical Assoc. He served as the President of the Lions Club, the Country Club, EISD Board of Trustees and the Ellis County Medical Society. He is survived by a daughter, Martha Clinesmith of Dallas; a son and his wife, Joe and Cathy McCall of Dallas; four grandchildren, Cindy and husband, Danny Holt, Courtney and husband, Scott Weller, Sarah McCall and Walter Graham McCall; great grandchildren, Allison Holt, Riley Holt, Katelyn Weller and Hunter Weller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise, on April 18, 1997. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Martin officiating. Interment will follow In Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the Keever Chapel. Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church.
