Malinda married James Cook, son of Bishop Henry Cook on 11 May 1867 in Cedar Fort, Utah, Utah, United States. They raised their children there.
In the summer of 1888 Malinda went to Bear Lake Idaho to visit with her sisters, Sarah Jane and Phebe, and her brother, Adam. It was while staying at Adam's home in St. Charles that she was stricken with a paralytic stroke, and never regaining conciousness, died a few hours later, 6 July 1888, age 49 years and 7 months.

8. Samuel Cook, born 2 Apr 1876, died in infancy.
9. Martha Jeanette Cook, born 3 July 1877, married Andrew White Hinman. They raised their family in Cardston, Alberta. She died of cancer sometime after the spring of 1951 [8 January 1932, see memorial 107771122].
10. Phebe Edna Cook, born 7 Dec 1880, married Lee Young. They lived in San Pedro, California. either 261 ½ or 1613 1/2 S. Pacific St.
Melinda's husband, James Cook, died in Cardston, Alberta, Canada 6 May 1906.
