Husband of Rosia Rebarbara Kocher, both natives of Germany. Wilhelm and Rosia were married in 1834 and quickly emigrated to America. They settled in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where, in 1835, Rosia gave birth to their first child, Wilhelm, named after his father. They moved to Nashville, Tennessee where Rosia had her second son, Heinrich, in 1838, also named after his father. After moving to Athens, Alabama, they had a third son, Johann, in 1840. They returned to Nashville, where they had their first girl, Hanchen Loiese, in 1842. Mary Frances arrived in 1844, followed by Charles Augustus in 1848 and Amelia Tennessee in 1850. They decided to settle in Louisiana, and chose Natchitoches, where, in 1855, Rosia gave birth to Wilhelmina Henrietta, with Walter Scott arriving in 1858.
