MT. VERNON — Edward Lewis Parr, 77, of McLeansboro, died at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2010, at his home.
He was born on July 5, 1932, in Hamilton County, the son of Nathan E. and Flora F. (Brake) Parr. He married Mary Ruth Parr in 1957; and she survives in McLeansboro.
In addition to his wife, Edward is survived by two sons, James Parr Sr. and wife Amy and Steven Parr, both of McLeansboro; a daughter, Cathy Hover and husband Mike of St. Charles; and two grandchildren, James Parr Jr. and Christina Parr.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Eddie Parr; a brother, Nathan Eugene Parr; and a sister, Charlene Mezo.
Edward was a retired fork lift operator, working 24 years at General Mills Corporation in West Chicago. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. Edward was a member of West Chicago Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro with the Revs. Buddy Sork and Tim Biggerstaff officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery near McLeansboro.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
