Per family members:
Stan was always the proverbial nice guy, a gentle, kind soul who would do most anything for a stranger in need. He was very smart and always worked very hard throughout his life.
Upon graduating from high school, Stan applied to join the US military but was disqualified when doctors discovered he had hyperglycemia (onset to diabetes). He then moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, where he met his future wife, Peggy. They went on to raise two sons and a daughter.
Stan held a variety of jobs and careers in his life, from house painter to defense manufacturer to salesperson. Stan and his family were devout Christians and were members of a non-denominational fundamentalist Bible church throughout their lives. Stan was a life-long smoker and died in 1980 from an aggressive form of lung cancer within a week of diagnosis.
