Birth: Mar. 22, 1854, Germany
Death: Dec. 28, 1928
DeKalb County
Illinois, USA

Edward Stahl was born at Waldaubach, Hessen Nassau, Germany, on March 22, 1854 and was baptized and confirmed in the home church to which the little village belonged. In the year 1882, he came to America and spent a few years in and around Somonauk, Illinois.
On the 23 day of February 1888 he was united in marriage to Mrs Christine Dienst. Mr & Mrs Stahl then made their home near Hinckley until the year 1909, when they retired from the farm and moved to Hinckley.
For thirty-nine years Mr & Mrs Stahl were members of St. Paul's church of Hinckley, sharing with the church they loved the blessing of the Lord which he has promised to the ones that work in his vineyard. For a number of years Mr. Stahl held the office of board member of the church, giving to his church the best that he had. Always feeling the need of the spiritual impetus received in worshipping with the throngs of believers, he seldom failed in the devine services. Knowing that godliness groweth out of knowledge; Mr. & Mrs Stahl reared their children in the faith of the Evangelical church, having all of their children baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's church.
The Lord deemed it time to call his true and faithful servant home to rest on the 28th of December, 1928 at 9:30 a.M. after but a few days of Illiness, at the age of 74years, 9 months and 6 days.
He leaves to mourn his death, one daughter and six grandchildren by a former marriage in Germany; his deeply grieved wife, Mrs Christine Stahl; two sons and three daughters; Mrs Rosie Wood, Mrs Paul Seifert, Melvin and Harry Stahl of Aurora; Mrs Estella Kaus of Hinckley and two brothers, one in Germany and one in New York. One Step daughter, Mrs. Herman Jandt, six grandchildren and a number of other relatives.
The funeral service was held on Sunday Dec 30, 1928, at St. Paul's church at 2 p.m., Rev Eric Pfundt, the pastor officiating.
The pallbearers were: John Price, George Hage, Eddie Johnson, Jesse Flanders, Albert Greenacre and A. C. Bale. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery.
