EDWARD ALVIN DAWSON, son of Adolfus Alvin and Malissa Lone Brownfield Dawson, was born September 26, 1923, in Brownfield, Missouri and departed this life March 24, 2009, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years.
Alvin, as he was known to family and friends, graduated from Competition High School. He made friends easily and still remained in contact with many of them.

After graduating from High School, Alvin joined the United States Army on August 21, 1942. While enlisted, he served in WWII. During the war he served in several theatres including North Africa, The European Campaign, where he was wounded and received two purple hearts, Normandy Invasion, Battle of the Bulge with General Patton's Army, and he was headed to Japan when the war ended. He retired from the Army on June 2, 1946, as a Sergeant. The dedication he had for his country and our freedoms was a trait desired by many and respected by his fellow service men.

After leaving the Army, Alvin traveled to Alaska and began work on the pipeline. He later decided to go to college and graduated from Southwest Missouri Sate University with a degree in Accounting. He was employed with Lebanon Coca Cola for many years and was also engaged in beef and dairy farming. Alvin had a strong work ethic which earned his deserved respect from his co-workers and employers.

Alvin was very passionate about photography. He believed that pictures resulted in lasting memories and it was important for him to mark those occasions for the generations to come. He was also active in genealogy and had a great knowledge of history. He was even lovingly referred to as a "history buff." However, his most treasured moments were those spent with his adoring family, especially his special great-grandson, Kaden.

He leaves to mourn his passing, three daughters, Karen Wolken and her husband Rick, Kathryn Peters and her husband Tim, and Donna Allen and her husband Cecil, all of Lebanon; one step-son, Richard Peterson and his wife Janet, also of Lebanon; one brother, William Dawson of Belton, MO; eleven grandchildren, Heather and Chad Wolken, Zachary, Aaron and Malissa Peters, Casey and Adrienn Allen, Travis Headley, Jon Headley, Amy Peterson and

David Peterson and his wife April; one great-grandson, Kaden; other relatives and many friends.

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Patricia Headley and two brothers, Donald and Lee Dawson

A wonderful father, grandfather, brother and friend, with the ability to light up a room with his smile, he will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives he touched.
