NEW BERLIN - Alice V. (nee: Brown) Anderson passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on Tuesday, April 28, 2009. Alice was born January 28, 1929, in Racine, where she lived most of her life. Alice was married to Arvid Anderson for 25 years, until his death in 1972. For many years after retiring from K-mart, Alice volunteered as a literacy and English as a second language tutor. She enjoyed knitting, swimming, and was an avid reader, particularly of mysteries. She was devoted to her family, who will miss losing to her at Skip-Bo, cribbage, and cards. Alice is survived by her children, Lin (Harry) Grieshaber of New Berlin and Ron (Barb) Anderson of Severn, Md.; grandchildren, April (Matt) Burch, Trina Grieshaber (Tom Calloway), Britta (Dan) Osborne; two sisters, Geraldine 'Tootie' Hemple and Gladys Lui; and too many other relatives and friends to count. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arvid; brothers, Archbishop Walter X. Brown and Jerry Brown; and sister, Jeannie Frahm. Visitation at the funeral home Saturday, May 2, 2009, 9:30 until 11:15 a.m. Funeral service 11:30 a.m. Private burial to follow later.
