Chandle Dairress "CD" Brown, 90, of Fairmont, went to be with the Lord on Friday (June 17, 2011).
He was born March 28, 1921, at Strange Creek in Braxton County, a son the late Columbus Washington Brown and Mary Browning Perkins.
A resident of the Fairmont area since 1942, Dairress was the owner and operator of Brown's Garage since 1952 and also worked in several coal mines throughout West Virginia.
Mr. Brown was an active member of Katy Baptist Church since 1957 and enjoyed hunting and camping, and for many years traveled with his wife in their motor home.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Betty Lou Stover Brown; one son, Charles Richard Brown and wife Linda of Pine Grove; three daughters, Linda Lou Brown of Pine Grove, Kay Davis of Fairview and Janetta Sue Gerald of South Carolina; four brothers, Don Gibson and wife Bettye of South Carolina, Jack Conrad and wife Opal of North Carolina, Percy Dale Conrad of Ohio and Jimmy Conrad of North Carolina; a sis­ter, Peggy Murphy of Bunner Ridge; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and several half-brothers and half­sisters.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sis­ter, Catherine Katy (Haymond) Nixon; a grandson, Charles Chuck Brown II; and two sons­in- law, Stephen Davis and Joe Gerald.
Friends may call at Hutson Funeral Home, U.S. 250, Farmington, from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Brown will lie in state at Katy Baptist Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. Funeral services will be held at Katy Baptist Church at 1 p.m. with Pastor Marvin Stalnaker officiating. He will be laid to rest at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Farmington.
