On April 11, 2010 at Fairmont General Hospital, in the presence of her children, Ruth Eileen Sapp Williams Hayes went to be with her Lord and Savior. She was born May 26, 1922 at Low Gap in Wetzel County, the daughter of the late John R. and Helen Burch Sapp.
She established a home with her husband, Archie D. Williams until his death in 1956.
She is survived by her children and their families: Helen and Harley Boggs, Mannington Dennis and Pamala Williams, Mannington, Sherry and Pete Dudash of St. Clairsville, OH and Sheila Hayes and companion Kevin Gibson of Katy, a daughter-in-law Cheryl Williams Powell and husband Tim of Mannington; Grandchildren: Vickie Dodd and Susan Jones of Mannington, Michael Williams and wife Mimi of Charlotte, Chad Williams and wife Carla of Fairmont, Stephen and Heather Williams of Worton, MD Alan Fluharty of Vienna, VA Tamara and Ken Mailhot of Treasure Island FL and Erica Williams Wolfe of Mannington; Great Grandchildren: Jeremy Dodd, Dustin LaPoint both of Mannington, Brittany Jones of Morgantown, Tyler and Clayton Williams of Charlotte, Kate and Lauren Williams of Fairmont, Luke and Emmett Williams of Worton, MD, Reanna Brinton of Fairmont, Jayden and Brice Mailhot of Treasure Island, FL and Trent Liggett of Mannington; one great great granddaughter: Stori White: Three sisters Maxine Doyle of Downers Grove IL, and Madge Clark of New Martinsville, WV and Lois Eads and husband Jim of Mayfield KY; A brother: Roger Sapp and wife Avis of Indiana, Pa.
In addition to her parents and her first husband, Ruth was also preceded in death by her second husband, Elbert C. Hayes and a son, Alan David Williams. Ruth was a graduate of Hundred High School, and received teaching degrees from West Liberty and Fairmont State Colleges. She was a school teacher and principal at James Fork Elementary, and later taught at Mannington Elementary School until her retirement. She loved flower gardening, traveling and was an accomplished artist and seamstress and an excellent cook. She also was a doll collector and handmade the clothing for them. She attended the First Baptist Church of Mannington.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home 500 E. Main St., Mannington on Tuesday from 2-9pm where funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1pm with Pastor Greg Roth officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Mannington Memorial Park Cemetery.
