Luis Alberto Espinoza Applewhite, 31, of Fairmont, diedWednesday (Feb. 19, 2014) at his residence.
He was born Dec. 1, 1982, in Caracas, Venezuela, son of Luis Alberto Espinoza of Caracas, Venezuela, and Lucielena "Lucy" Applewhite Bourne and his stepfather, Lionel Bourne of Fairmont.
Luis was a Christian and was part of the Young Adult Ministry "The Generation" of Everlasting Covenant Church. He brought compassion, love and many "I love yous" to the group. Luis will be greatly missed and helped to mold the current fate of The YoungAdultMinistry.
He was a member of the Special Olympics, where he was active in softball, flag football, skiing, basketball and tennis, in which he earned a bronze medal representing the state of West Virginia in the National Special Olympic Games in 2010. He was a member of the DisabilityAction Center in Fairmont. He loved music, playing sports and, above all, spending time with his family. He attended the Harrison County school system where he left many wonderfulmemories with all.
In addition to his parents, Luis is survived by his extended family, the Applewhites, Espinozas, Bournes and Martins; his coaches, fellow athletes; and DAC members, along with a host of close friends.
Luis was preceded in death by his sister, Claudia Espinoza.
Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont, from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Josh Morgan and Pastor Dave Blair officiating. Interment will follow at the Grove Cemetery inMonongah.
