Victor C Besancon was the son of Norma Moody born in Midland, Texas and Clarke W. Besancon born in New Orleans, Louisiana. He grew up in Ft Worth, San Antonio, Texas and New Orleans, Louisiana, and after the death of his father in San Antonio in 1929, in the 1930's joined the Navy and became a radio operator. He was captured at Wake Island in 1942 after the Japanese invaded and took the island, and spend the war in a Japanese Prison Camp. After the war, he made the Navy a career. He made his home in California after retirement. He served a tour of duty on the USS Saratoga, and was a FCC Licensed Amateur Operator in retirement. Veteran of WW II, Korea and Vietnam.

Moreno Valley Victor Besancon
Graveside services for Victor Besancon , 87, will be at 11:15 a.m. Friday at Riverside National Cemetery. He died March 9 at Reche Canyon Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Colton. The cause of death is undetermined pending a doctor's report.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Moreno Valley Mortuary.
Mr. Besancon , who was born in Fort Worth, Texas, lived in Moreno Valley five years. He served in the U. S. Navy for 30 years and retired as a lieutenant commander.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Eleanor; a daughter, Susanne Lee of Moreno Valley; and a grandchild."
