Teacher in several schools in Union County, Mississippi, including Ellistown and Myrtle. Superintendent of Education of Union County. Mayor of New Albany. Was issued a local preacher's license in 1897 by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. Was made a Deacon in 1902, entitled to conduct baptisms, marriages, and funerals. With his brother Eph, owned several farms in Union County. Was Secretary and member of the Board of Directors of Peoples Bank.
His death was reported by the New Albany Gazette on the front page of its May 28, 1931, edition, under a banner headline across the full front page stating "Death Comes Suddenly to N.A. Citizen" "Rev. Edgar Blizzard is Fatally Stricken Last Friday Night"
His long obituary reads, in part:
"Ed Blizzard was a high class man.
All who really knew him were his friends.
He was ruggedly honest and sincere.
The best within him always went into what he was doing.
"He was a good school man, a good preacher, a good county supt. education, a good farmer.
"New Albany perhaps never had a better mayor, and yet he made no fuss about it.
In fact his was a quiet unostentatious life.
To Mrs. Blizzard, her children, his brothers, and to all who mourn the going of this good man, we offer sympathy. God bless them."
