Birth: Apr. 29, 1923
Connecticut, USA
Death: Jun. 10, 2011, USA

Richard (Dick) Beebe left this earth for a beautiful afterlife on June 10, 2011, in Spokane, WA. He left peacefully at the age of 88 during a short hospital stay. He was comforted by his spiritual beliefs and the love of his family and friends. Dick was born April 29, 1923 to Agnes and Herbert Beebe in Salisbury, Connecticut. He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1941. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1943 and was stationed at Walla Walla Air Base as an aerial gunner instructor. While stationed in Walla Walla, he met Helen Fanning and they married December 1, 1944. After an honorable discharge in 1946, Dick and Helen lived briefly in Connecticut before moving to Spokane where he worked for various contractors. In 1956, they moved to the Tri-Cities and Dick worked as an electrician for General Electric and Douglas United Nuclear before joining the Bonneville Power Administration. He retired from BPA in 1986. He was a long-time union member, and he served as the president of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (Local 984) for five years in the 1960s. He was a ready volunteer, proudly serving as a Catholic Church usher, and working at the Manor at Canyon Lakes' country store.

Dick enjoyed playing golf, bridge and cribbage, and rarely missed a Seattle Mariners' game. He never turned down a rousing game of cribbage when challenged by his sons or grandsons, and he would delight in the fact that he could still beat them more often than not. He coached his sons' Little League teams, and took his grandsons to Twin Lakes for summer vacations. He loved the trips he and Helen took with their best friends and neighbors, the Mewes, the Merrills, and the Hobbs, and would reminisce fondly of their neighborhood get-togethers.

Dick was a kind, generous, and loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa, and we will miss him tremendously!

Dick's parents, his brother Newton and his sister Mary precede him in death. He leaves his wife Helen of over 65 years; his sons and daughters-in-law Rick and Peggy (Spokane) and Mick and Judy (Kenmore); five grandsons (Steven, James, and Michael; and Nick and Justin); his great-granddaughter Ruby; his sisters Anna and Clarinda; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will take place Saturday, June 25 at 1:00PM at the St. Thomas More Catholic Church (505 W. St. Thomas More Way, Spokane, WA 99208). Immediately following will be a short reception, followed by entombment at Fairmount Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society. Families and friends are encouraged to sign Dick's guest book at
