Viva Ellen McNutt was born August 29, 1897, in Vandergrift, a daughter of Albert Milton and Lillian Belle Coover McNutt.
Viva graduated from Grove City College in 1916 and worked in the Westmoreland County courthouse in Greensburg where she met her future husband.
Viva married George Thomas McClarran on August 16, 1917, and they became the parents of two sons and a daughter. They lived in the Underwood section of Greensburg, and later moved to a home beside her husband's auto business on Pittsburgh street.
In the 1930s, the family moved to the village of McClarran, a rural area between Greensburg and Latrobe where the family homestead was located. Viva worked as the postmaster at the Luxor post office. She enjoyed playing the piano, shopping, and socializing.
After her first husband's death in 1952, she married James Craig King of Vandergrift in 1954.
After her second husband's death in 1985, Viva moved to a nursing home in Greensburg.
At the age of 89, Viva died on April 4, 1987.
She was predeceased by her parents and both husbands.
She was survived by two sons, a daughter, and six grandchildren.
