Ms. Frances Maxine Baker, age 90 of Houston, passed away Friday, April 18, 2003 at the Vosswood Nursing Center in Houston. Ms. Baker was born December 31, 1912 in Houston County and served as Houston County Health Nurse in the early 1940's. After moving to Houston, Ms. Baker served for more than 40 years with the City of Houston Health Department in many capacities including Director of the Lyons Avenue Clinic and the head of the student nurse program. Ms. Baker was a member of the TX Nurses Association. Survivors include her niece Barbara Baker Waisath, of Kingwood; nephews Charles Jesse "Sonny" Baker, of Huntsville, James David "Jimmy" Baker,of Lovelady; her devoted friend Ms. Betty Arnold, of Houston; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and other relatives.
Preceded in death by her parents Charles Arthur and Maude Baker; and one brother Charles "Jesse"Baker.
Funeral services for Ms. Frances Maxine Baker were held Tuesday, April 22, in the Lovelady First Baptist Church with the Rev. Scott Matthews officiating. Interment followed in the Lovelady Evergreen Cemetery.
