Claudio J. Baca, 76, of San Mateo, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his home.
He was born on Aug. 4, 1929, in San Mateo, to Jose Manuel Baca and Albina Jaramillo Baca.
Mr. Baca was a longtime resident of the area and a member of San Mateo Catholic Church. He was married on Sept. 29, 1951, to Margarita Salazar Baca, his wife of 54 years who passed away in 2005. Most of his life he provided for his family as a uranium miner. His family remembers him as a devoted and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather who took pleasure in the outdoors, hunting, pinon picking and fishing. He will be deeply missed by friends and family who loved him.
Mr. Baca is survived by his two sons Rudy Baca and fianc/e Laura Bowerbank of San Mateo and David Baca and wife Darlene of San Mateo; his three sisters Ellen Saavedra and husband Randy of San Mateo, Mary Baca of San Mateo and Christine Baca and fianc/ John Kryler; his sister Josephine Dixon of Gilbert, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jose Manuel Baca and Albina Jaramillo Baca, and his wife Margarita “Maggie” Baca who passed away in 2005.
Visitation took place on Monday, Jan. 30, at Mission San Mateo Catholic Church, followed by the Holy Rosary Meditation at the same location. Funeral Mass will be take place at 10 a.m. today, Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Mission San Mateo Catholic Church with Father Matthew Keller officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow at San Mateo Cemetery. A reception will be held at the San Mateo Volunteer Fire Department immediately following the graveside services. Friends and family of Claudio J. Baca are invited and encouraged to attend.
Pallbearers will be Tessa Baca, Alyssa Baca, Abryha Baca, Damien Baca, Kayla Dixon and Dominique Flores. Honorary pallbearers will include Autry Flores, Dominic Baca, Rudy Valencia, Frankie Flores, Orlando Baca, Jay Baca, Claudio Baca II, Johnny Dixon, Wesley Dixon and Alvin Dixon.
Grants Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
