Bill was born in Holyoke,Massachusetts on Febuary 24, 1925, he was the oldest of 4 sons and attended St.Jerome's Parochial School, where he graduated salutatorian of his class. Following high school he joined the US Army and attended New York University and CCNY while fulfilling his 3 year commitment to the army. Upon discharge he returned to Texas and enrolled at Texas Tech, graduating with a BA Degree. He later earned an MBA at SMU and was elected to the Beta Gamma Sigma. Bill and Ellen Black were married on November 24,1949 in the St.Elixabeth Catholic Church in Lubbock,Texas.Bill served as a Policeman in Lubbock and went into the highway patrol for a period of time. Bill became interested in industrial Security and worked at Chance Vaught Aircraft while working on his MBA. Bill was hired by Texas Instruments to set up thier security deptment and became one of the first members of the American Society of Industrial Security,he retired in 1987 after 29 years with TI. Bill was a longtime member of ST.Mary's Catholic Church and served the church in many ways. Bill was a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus having held membership for over 50 years. Bill is survived by his wife of 58 years Ellen; two sons, Frank of Abilene,Tx and John and his wife Cassandra of Houston,Tx; three daughters,Paula Shimidt and husband Peter of New Bedford,MA, Moria Cannata and husband Fred of Houston,Tx. and Ann Sullivan and her fiance Bill Phipps of St.Louis, Mo. one brother Michael Sullivan and wife Charlotte of Owings, Md. and 9 grand children. The Knights of Columbus will serve as Pallbearers with military honors, My friend Bill Sullivan was inspiration to me.
