Mauritz was my husband's grandfather. He died after breaking his hip in a fall and having to have surgery. We had just driven from Omaha to Phoenix when my father greeted us with the sad news that grandpa had passed away. We didn't drive back home for the funeral, but I wish we could have. Grandpa was a farmer and worked at the Co-op in Newman Grove. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel, and a son, Elwin, who died as a toddler. Survived by his four daughters, Lois, Doris, Phyllis and Carol (my mother-in-law).
