Rosalia Gubrud 1866-1949
Last rites were conducted at the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Bagley Saturday, June 11, at 2 p.m., for Mrs. Rosalia V. Gubrud, 82, resident of this community for the past 40 years. Mrs. Gubrud passed away on June 8 at the home of her son, Carl Gubrud, with whom she had been living for the past several years.
Rev. Fred Sommars officiated and Cease Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Burial was made in the Bagley Cemetery.
Two songs were sung by Judith Michealson and Helen Hastie, with Mrs. Cease at the organ. Pallbearers were Axel Hogberg, Alfred Sollum, Carl Aamodt, Bennie Stavig, Harold Tangjerd and Ed Spencer. After the service the Ruth Circle served lunch to the relatives and pallbearers in the church basement.
Rosalia Vaaler Gubrud was born December 5, 1866 at Spring Grove, Minnesota, where she grew to womanhood. In 1889 she was united in marriage to Gustav Gubrud, also of Spring Grove, to which union six children were born.
The family lived in Spring Grove until 1908, and that years moved to the Bagley community, purchasing a farm east of Bagley, where they resided since.
She is survived by three sons, Carl, John and Gilbert of Bagley, one daughter, Mrs. Fred Nelson (Marie) of Emery, Wisconsin; a brother at Long Beach, California and a sister at Red Wing, Minnesota. Also 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband, 1928, and a son, Edwin, 1941, a daughters, Lena, passed away in 1946.
