Ms. Jewel Baskins, age 84, of Colt, died Monday, July 2, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family. Ms. Baskins was born Aug. 14, 1922, in Alabama and was the daughter of William Borden Sr. and Mallie Marie McGee Borden. Ms. Baskins lived in St. Francis County for most of her life and worked at Sanyo before retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Assembly of God Church. Ms. Baskins enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family. She was highly regarded as a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She was blessed by God and loved him with all her heart. In 1939 Ms. Baskins married Lynn Franklin Baskins and he preceded her in death in 1976. She is survived by five sons, Frank Baskins (Brenda) of Wynne, Donald Baskins (Dorothy), J.T. Baskins (Kathy), Carroll Baskins (Cookie) and Larry Baskins, all of Colt; three daughters, Dorothy Baskins Myers (Leonard) of Forrest City, Mary Baskins Cundiff (Gordon) of Jacksonville and Marie Baskins Townsend (Scott) of Manila; four brothers, J.C. Borden of Colt, Leonard Victor Borden of Russellville, John Lawrence Borden of Jonesboro and James Walter Borden of Colt; 19 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, George Lee Borden, Edgar William Borden Jr. and Alfred Borden and one sister, Elizabeth Borden Milton. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 4, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home with Bro. J.T. Baskins, Bro. Chelch Reagan and Bro. J.W. Hirons officiating. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 5, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Forrest City Church of God on Highway 1 South near the Sports Complex. Burial will follow at Hughes Cemetery. Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
