M.J. FORNEY DEATH TOLD BY RELATIVES
The death this morning of former Park County resident Monte J. Forney, 66, at Ft. Whipple (Arizona) Veterans Hospital was reported by relatives.
Mr. Forney, who was born Oct. 21, 1895, in the Paradise Valley, had moved to Arizona two years ago after retiring from his work as a trail salesman in Yakima, Wash., and The Dalles, Ore.
Death came after an extended illess, which had made him a patient at the hospital for six weeks.
His parents were Mr. & Mrs. R. B. Forney, pioneer Paradise Valley residents. He attended Rosedale school as a child and entered the Army on Oct 4, 1917, serving with the 91st Division, 362nd machine gun company.
Mr. Forney was wounded in action in the Argonne in France, and returned to the United States on April 20, 1919. He ranched in the Paradise Valley for several years, before serving as a distributor for a Havre oil firm. Prior to entering the hospital recently he lived in Mesa, Arizona.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lee LaFara of Indianapolis, Ind; two sons, Mike of Great Falls and Monte Jr. of Perrin Air Force Base, Texas; two sister, Mrs. Fern D'Ewart, Post Falls, Idaho, and Mrs. Ruby Jordan of the Paradise Valley; and two brothers, Cleo of Livingston and Clay of Red Lodge.
His parents preceded him in death.
